The Open Office Is A Surveillance Panopticon And Garrett Is The Warden
The open office was sold to us as COLLABORATION. It is surveillance with a kombucha tap.
Some VC pulled a REAL ESTATE slide deck out of his ass in 2011 and now we live in a Google image search for "modern workspace."
Glass walls. Phone booths. A communal table where lunch becomes a STATEMENT.
The before picture is the CUBICLE. People miss it. They will not say so out loud.
The OPEN OFFICE made saying so a HR event.
I do not miss the cubicle. I miss the wall. The wall was the only ALIGNMENT we ever had with the worker. ⚡
A wall is a MOAT. A wall is a north star. A wall is the original asymmetric advantage and they took it from us so Garrett could have OPTIONALITY on whose screen he reads next.
