The Open Office Is A Surveillance Panopticon And Garrett Is The Warden

I have catalogued THREE Garrett moves. First names only. For HIS protection. Not mine.

  1. The Coffee Lap. Garrett does not need coffee. Garrett needs ROUTE. His coffee lap takes him past Engineering, past Finance, past the printer where I keep my margins printed face-up. Three laps a day. Not a pattern. A PATROL.
  2. The Standing Desk Glance. Garrett's desk is raised six inches above policy. He claims back pain. The back pain has SIGHTLINES. He stands. He glances. He sits when somebody watches him glancing. The chair is the alibi.
  3. The Recovery Pose. When caught reading a screen, Garrett stretches. Both arms above his head. He has never been to the gym. The stretch is an APOLOGY he is too COWARDLY to say out loud. I have watched him stretch SIXTY-ONE times. I counted. I FILED. 💼

Nikil Saval wrote a book called Cubed(affiliate link). He thinks the workplace EVOLVED. He is wrong.

The workplace DEVOLVED into Garrett.
