Two Weeks Notice Is A Myth. Here Is My Real Number.
Three lessons from the NOTICE trenches.
- The two-week notice is a TRAINING program for the next person. The next person should TRAIN themselves. That is the assignment.
- Leverage is asymmetric. The day of announcement, leverage flips. Announce LATE. Sometimes announce NEVER.
- The chair does not need a goodbye. The chair was a tool. Tools do not get hugs. 💼
A lot of people are going to read this and call it "unprofessional." To them I say: professionalism is what people who got LAID OFF used to call their behavior on the way out.
The notice is for the COMPANY. The exit is for ME. The math is asymmetric and conviction is the only currency that ROUNDS UP.
